As we continue our push to activate the iconic 190-acre RFK-Stadium-Armory campus, we at Events DC are proud of all the accomplishments over the past year. From a variety of beautification projects to facility renovations to extended partnerships with and support of area community groups. We know that we couldn’t have the successes of these initiatives without all your support.
In the spring, Events DC, in partnership with DC Water, provided the community with easier bicycle access by rerouting the RFK Trail extension along parking lot 8a and connecting it to the Anacostia Riverwalk Trail.
We partnered with DC Vault, the first and only pole vault training club in Washington, DC, to create a dedicated training site next to the skate park at RFK Stadium. As for the skate park itself, we brought in local artist Lawrence “Naturel” Atoigue to revitalize the space by painting a mural featuring geometric patterns along every inch of concrete! And we hosted a community block party for the kids to celebrate one more day of summer before returning to school.
We also gave out more than $50,000 in community grants to Washington, DC-based non-profit organizations that provide youth sports programming, performing and cultural arts. It’s our way to show support for local groups that enrich all our kids’ lives.
