We want to give a big shout-out to you for taking part in Events DC interviews and surveys this summer!
You told us what is important to you and what you want to see happen in your neighborhood. You let us know that email is a good way for us to communicate with you and to get the word out about what our team is working on with you. We found out that you like to share information at the local level.
After all, it’s all about neighbors talking to neighbors.
So, what did almost 200 DC residents tell us during online interviews and our social media digital survey? It’s information that is very important in planning a path forward for the Events DC Community Engagement Team. Here’s a summary:
- Most of you know about Events DC and that we bring events and venues to the city for our residents’ enjoyment and as a boost for local businesses.
- You said the best way for us to get feedback from you – and information to you – is through local community leaders (influencers), as well as neighborhood commissions and community groups. We realize that we need to start at the neighborhood level to make communication work!
- You recommended sending emails, and sharing messages on social media and on the Events DC website to get the word out about events.
- You want to see progress through Events DC. It is important for you to see your neighborhood moving forward, but you want to see it preserved as well. Transforming does not mean completely changing everything.
Events DC finds and invests in projects that are good for area events, venues, and businesses, and that bring great things to our neighborhoods. To do this, we need to hear from you. We are using the information you gave us in the survey to figure out how to let more people know that we want and need constant feedback. That is what the community engagement plan is all about.
